St. Brigid’s Catholic Parish, which now extends from Farleigh to Midge Point has a long history. The Parish celebrated a golden jubilee in 1992, indicated it was established in 1942.
The current church, St. Brigid’s, was built in 1966, replacing an old wooden church building.
A convent school operated on the site for several years. A convent school also operated at Habana from 1952 to 1968.
A church was established at Habana , and remained in operation until 2017.
Catholics living or holidaying in the seaside community of Seaforth have had the benefit of regular Mass for many years. The current church and residence were built in1987 and 1990 respectively.
Calen / Kolijo was originally part of the Townsville Diocese, but was transferred into the Rockhampton Diocese in 1979. St. Peter’s church and residence at Midge Point was built in two stages, commencing in 1988, and completed in 1992.
