St Joseph’s Catholic Parish is located in the northern coastal areas of Mackay and enjoys a rich heritage and a vibrant community spirit which it wishes to share with you. The parish includes the churches of St Joseph’s, North Mackay and St Brendan’s, Bucasia. We recognise the Juipera people who were the traditional custodians of this area and we pray that we will continue to bring genuine stewardship to our parish through worship and praise to our loving God.
Today we welcome and cherish people from the many other lands who offer us their faith stories and cultural riches. We come together in the presence of Jesus Christ to give thanks and praise and to be nourished in so many different ways by the Grace of God’s hospitality. We are nourished through our many prayer groups and our liturgy team with the support of the diverse and talented musicians who willingly offer their gifts. Our educational needs are served through the Adult Faith Centre, our four primary schools, St Josephs, Mary Mackillop, Emmanuel and St Brendan's, our secondary college Holy Spirit College and the wonderful catechetical teaching in our government schools. We enjoy community, social and pastoral activities and various initiatives of outreach that are unique to our parish. We invite you to take the time to reflect on the material that comes with our welcome to our parish. We trust a number of the activities and ministries will interest you. We welcome your faith story and participation so that our parish will continue to grow in faith, discipleship and witness of the Risen Christ, present in our midst. Welcome! |
